In addition to a world title in 2005, Elmont has won several medals at European Championships and World Cups. He participated three times in the Olympic Games, with a fifth place in 2008 as the best performance. Nationally, he conquered no fewer than eleven consecutive Dutch titles. In 2015 he stopped at the age of 34 due to an injury. He then worked as a psychologist and performance coach at Ajax, among others.

Motive

Through a press release from the JBN, Elmont says he was looking forward to his new role in Papendal. “Judo is my passion, and I return with a lot of energy to contribute to the future of our sport. My motivation is to create a strong and sustainable top sport climate, in which talents and coaches get the right support to excel. With a clear vision, innovation and collaboration I want to build a foundation with which the Netherlands again participates at the global level.”

Elmont will be employed by the Judo Bond Nederland in his new position on 1 May.
