Crown Prince Haakon briefly answered the media’s questions about his wife Mette-Marit’s Epstein connections.

Haakon visited several fishing companies in Norway on Monday afternoon. Media representatives were there to follow the visit and asked the crown prince questions related to the fishing industry.

VG asked the prince whether he found out about the exchange of messages between Mette-Marit and Jeffrey Epstein at the same time that the matter became public at the beginning of the year, or already earlier. Haakon answered the reporter bluntly:

– I am not going to go deeply into this topic here and now. I don’t read all of my husband’s e-mails, and I really don’t want anyone to do that, she replied to VG’s reporter.

Haakon was also asked about the health of the crown princess. Mette-Marit suffers from chronic pulmonary fibrosis, due to which she has largely withdrawn from court representation duties. In March, Hovi announced that his condition had deteriorated.

– A lot of things have fit into this period, but I feel better now. He is sick, and it is part of our everyday life. It’s sad to leave him, but he’s doing well, Haakon stated.

Despite her illness, Mette-Marit returned to work last Friday for one day. He and Haakon hosted a reception for the Norwegian athletes who participated in the Milan–Cortina Paralympic Games.

Mette-Marit used an oxygen catheter during the reception. It was the first time the Crown Princess used an oxygen catheter in public.

In March, Mette-Marit gave an interview to the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK about her Epstein connections.

In the interview, he described how he had been manipulated and said that he felt betrayed. At the same time, he admitted that he should have investigated Epstein’s background in more detail.
