It is summer recess in The Hague. During this period between the fall of the cabinet and the start of a new election campaign, we invite writers, scientists and thinkers in The Hague to talk about the political time in which we live. Because so much has happened in the past year and everything went so quickly, we would like to zoom out a bit.
This week are guests: Mariken van der Velden (Association Lecturer Political Communication at the VU University Amsterdam) and Matthijs Roodijn (Association Lecturer Political Science at the University of Amsterdam). We discuss liberal democracy that is under pressure, the role of emotions in politics and what responsibility media and science have in today’s political times.
