The Tilburg singer Guus Meeuwis and actor Henry van Loon from Oirschot will shine on the silver screen next year in a new film called Carnaval. The film is directed by Flip van der Kuil, one of the creators and makers of the New Kids series and films.
The story is about four best friends who live for carnival. When one of them suddenly has to take care of his alienated daughter and Prince Carnival seems to have sinister plans, they see their party plans falling apart. The friends have to do everything to save carnival. “Expect a lot of humor, complete chaos and a lot of surprises,” say director Flip van der Kuil and producer Maarten Swart.
The protagonists are the familiar New Kids actors Huub Smit, Tim Haars, Guido Pollemans and rapper Fresku. Actress Monic Hendrickx from Stevensbeek and Luizenmother actress Ilse Warringa have also received roles in the film.
Jan Biggel canceled
Last week, singer Jan Biggel from Liempde told in the radio program Keeigoeiemorgen on Omroep Brabant proudly that he had gotten a role in the carnival film. He also explained that Guus Meeuwis is participating. But the artist should not have said this. That is why he is no longer allowed to cooperate in the film, he said in the same radio program last Monday.
“Yes boy, this can only happen to me …”, Biggel said. “A golden future was in the offing. I also thought: what is this now? I was so happy and thought – because I had the confirmation that it was going to happen – that I could safely say it, white. But apparently I told things to you that I was not allowed to tell. The next day I received an email that I can no longer participate. That’s where my film career goes. “
Carnival will be in the cinemas in 2026 and will be shown later on Amazon Prime.
