It is the grand finale of an already historic day: Guns n ‘Roses are the big headliners of the Wacken Open Air 2025. On Thursday evening, with a set of almost three and a half hour, you can set a record -breaking appearance at the Wacken Open Air. The band not only brings a set full of classics and the usual cover, but also surprises the audience with an emotional gesture: a tribute to the recently deceased Ozzy Osbourne.
“Because of you we are all here”: Axl Rose honors Ozzy
Axl Rose is visibly moving at Osbourne, which he had celebrated at the “Back to the Beginning” concert at the beginning of July: “Because of you, we are all here.” With the words, the singer introduces a special moment of the evening. With “Never Say Die” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, Guns n ‘Roses packed two songs by Black Sabbath on the setlist. This is not a special treat for the Wacken. Already at the shows in Vienna and Luxembourg on July 24th and 28th, the songs made it onto the stage.
A ride through rock history
But even away from the tribute, Guns n ‘Roses deliver a set that leaves nothing to be desired. With early classics such as “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Mr. Brownstone”, bombast ballads such as “November Rain” as well as rarely played pearls such as “Coma” and newer tracks such as “Hard Skool”, every fan generation is offered something.
