Davide (Gabriel Garko) is a soldier who returns to Anconathe city where he was born and raised, to be next to his father Vittorio (Ricky Tognazzi), now dying. Convicted of the murder of his wifeDavide’s mother, continues to proclaim her innocence. On his deathbed, Vittorio asks his son to exonerate him, finding the real culprit. Davide, back home after years spent on peacekeeping missions abroad, begins his investigation. But he will have to deal with the past he chose to leave behind.

Laura (Anna Safroncik), is Davide’s great love. They loved each other many years ago and she remains the woman who left his mark on him, more than any other. Laura is married to Enrico (Tommaso Basili)who was once Davide’s best friend and who in the meantime has become the heir to one of the richest and most influential families in the city. While Davide begins to wonder if his father is really guilty, the passion between him and Laura, a fire that has never been completely extinguished, burns strongly again. The cumbersome presence of Lidia (Lina Sastri), Laura’s mother-in-law, makes the search for the truth complicated. The woman, authoritarian and not inclined to be contradicted, sees Davide’s return as a threat not only to her son’s marriage, but also for a truth he has hidden for years.
