Gucci donates proceeds from the sale of red shoes to women’s rights organization

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is celebrated worldwide on November 25th, the Italian luxury fashion house Gucci wants to donate part of its proceeds from the sale of the “Signoria Slingback” pump shoe model in the color red.

In Italy, red shoes have become a symbol in the fight against femicide and violence against women. Many Italian squares are decorated with hundreds of red shoes, intended as a symbolic silent march to raise awareness of the issue.

The donation will be made to the Italian women’s rights organization “Nosotras Onlus”. How high this sum is has not been disclosed.

Commenting on the commitment, Jean-François Palus, President and CEO of Gucci, said: “At Gucci, we remain committed to our mission of combining creativity with influential advocacy to bring about positive change not only in Florence, but throughout Italy. […] With their color and the deep cultural meaning associated with the cause they represent, the Rosso Ancora Signoria slingback pumps shown at the first Sabato De Sarno fashion show exemplify our commitment to raising awareness of one of the “To bring awareness to the most important issues affecting women today.”
