Guardiola-City, agreement made: one year renewal with option for the next

A real legacy, to put it like the British, destined to continue. More precisely, until 2025. According to various British press outlets, Manchester City has reached an agreement with Pep Guardiola for a one-year renewal but with an option in favor of both parties for a further season . The contractual structure therefore retraces that of two years ago. The current agreement will expire next June and, apparently, the break for the World Cup has served to reaffirm the desire to continue together. Details will need to be finalized but the wait for signatures and announcements, it seems, shouldn’t be too long. The Spanish coach is in Abu Dhabi these days, where he attended the last Formula 1 Grand Prix; the team will also travel there next week for a brief retreat, before the resumption scheduled for 28 December at Leeds.

Guardiola arrived on the Citizens bench in 2016 and with this latest extension he could reach nine seasons. With the hope that in this period the most ambitious of goals can be achieved: the Champions League. Rumors about his future have not been as frenetic as in 2020, also because the manager had clearly expressed his loyalty to City in recent weeks: “I don’t think I would stay seven years at another club.
