Group of Algerians arrested in Winterswijk for a boom in burglaries: camera images betray perpetrators | back corner

The man who was shot has been arrested. Justice suspects him of three thefts from vehicles, breaking into a house, an attempted break-in and threatening a police officer. The man has been transferred to a detention center. It is striking that on the same night of this incident (from Thursday to Friday) another four Algerians were arrested.

A number of these suspects live in the asylum seekers’ center on Amstelstraat in Winterswijk, mayor Joris Bengevoord confirms. “Together with a number of others, the man who was shot caused a nuisance in Winterswijk. Due to good police work, he was arrested.”

Some Algerians did not live in the asylum seekers’ center. They get a restraining order. The nuisances must leave, in accordance with agreements with the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA).
