GroenLinks wants to talk to newcomers Volt and PvdD in Eindhoven

After the resounding victory that his party achieved in the municipal elections, party leader Rik Thijs of GroenLinks in Eindhoven certainly wants to talk to two other winners: newcomers Volt and Party for the Animals (PvdD). Two parties that, like GroenLinks, have a climate story, according to Thijs. “That says something substantively about what Eindhoven has chosen,” he says in the talk show KRAAK of Omroep Brabant.

The leader of GroenLinks, the largest party in Eindhoven after the elections with nine seats, thinks that the formation in his city can still become quite complicated. This is because there are many possibilities after the municipal elections on Wednesday. “It’s going to be a complicated puzzle that we didn’t solve in a week, I’m afraid.”

In terms of coalition, the election results offer GroenLinks the opportunity to go all the way on the left, without VVD and CDA. Does he find that an attractive option? The GroenLinks leader will not be tempted out of his tent on Sunday. “Everything is open,” he says. “We have also worked very well with the VVD and the CDA in recent years.”

Thijs indicates that he wants to wait until Thursday first. Then all parties come together to discuss the results of the elections during a so-called interpretation evening. Then he wants to ‘take quick steps’.
