Groenewegen in a minor key: just short of a second stage victory in Tour on Champs-Élysées

In the final stage of the Tour de France, Dylan Groenewegen just missed the victory. The cyclist from Amsterdam finished second in a bunch sprint behind Jasper Philipsen. Alexander Kristoff crossed the line in third.

The 29-year-old Groenewegen took the lead in the sprint, but he was beaten by Philipsen in the final meters. As a result, he did not win the final stage like in 2017, but finished second just like in 2019.

The Amsterdammer won the third stage in the Tour de France. That was a nice boost for Groenewegen after an absence of three years from the Tour.
