Greenhouse gas emissions may peak this year: “But climate policy is not yet sufficient to limit warming to 1.5 °C”

CO2 emissions could potentially peak as soon as this year, according to an analysis by Carbon Brief based on figures from the International Energy Agency (IEA). The IEA has also increased its expectations for global solar energy capacity in 2050 by 69% since last year and predicts 20% more electric vehicles on the road by 2030. Yet the IEA writes that climate policy is not enough to limit warming to 1.5° C to limit. Based on current policies, global warming is expected to reach +2.4 °C by 2100.
