Breathe easy at Hertha! Marc Oliver Kempf (28) is fit for the game against his former club Freiburg on Saturday.

The central defender was under contract in Breisgau from 2014 to 2019. He had only trained individually earlier this week due to a hip problem, but has returned to team training for the past few days.

Coach Sandro Schwarz (44) made it clear: “If Kempf is fit, he also plays.” Nothing stands in the way of that now!

Kempf is not the only Hertha player with a Freiburg past: Florian Niederlechner also played for the sports club from 2016 to 2019. The striker on coaching veteran Christian Streich (57): “He was one of the most important people for my footballing development and a kind of foster father for me.”

On Saturday he finally wants to score goals for Hertha against his team.
