Due to smoke development during a large wildfire in Greece, parts of the highway between the capital Athens and the second city of Thessaloniki have been closed. The local newspaper Kathimerini reported this on Monday.
The wildfire is raging near Akraifnio, about 130 kilometers north of Athens. On Monday afternoon, more than a hundred firefighters were battling the flames, with the help of eleven fire-fighting planes and three helicopters.
