Greek coastguard rescues 90 migrants from distressed sailing yacht | Abroad

A group of migrants was rescued from a sailing yacht that was in trouble in the Aegean Sea, near Greece. The Greek authorities and aid organizations are faced with the challenge of helping these people while ensuring that there is enough space in shelters.

According to the Greek authorities, there has been a clear increase in the number of people trying to make the crossing to Greece from the Turkish Aegean coast. At the moment, the reception centers on the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos house about 6,669 people. In the same period last year, there were 2,964 people – less than half.
