Ex-Bayern star Arjen Robben caused quite a stir at a FC Groningen U14 game. A TV presenter clearly criticizes the Dutchman.

Unusual scenes involving Arjen Robben: The Dutchman had a heated argument with the referee on the sidelines of a youth game and then pushed the well-known Dutch TV presenter Wilfred Genee aside. This can be seen in a video published by the Dutch portal “VoetbalPrimeur”.

According to Dutch media reports, this scene was from last weekend. There, Robben, in his role as coach of the U14 team of his home club FC Groningen, was visibly dissatisfied with the referee in the game against Hilversum. He talks to him and points to the field several times. When presenter Wilfred Geene, whose son plays for Hilversum, comes along a short time later and draws the ex-Bayern star’s attention to a scene, he pushes him away on his shoulder. He should also say: “You don’t have to get involved.”

As Dutch sports journalist Valentijn Driessen reported in the podcast of the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf”, Geene had told him days ago that Robben was “incredibly annoying on the sidelines”. “Just annoying. Also for the referees and everyone else,” he is said to have said.

Driessen also criticized seals’ behavior ironically. “A good role model for a youth coach, by the way.” The former Bayern star also trains his son Kai in his team.

It is not clear what made Robben so upset. He and his team are in second place, but in the end they lost the game against league leaders Hilversum 0-1.
