London (dpa-AfX)-Great Britain has proven the ultra-right Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich and ITAMAR Ben-Gvir for dealing with the population in the Gaza Strip with sanctions. Both had given “extremist violence and serious violations of the Palestinian human rights,” said British Foreign Minister David Lammy from the BBC. The sanctions include an entry ban and freezing assets.

Smotrich had threatened with a “total destruction” of the Gaza Strip. He said the residents should be concentrated in a “humanitarian zone” in the very south of the coastal strip. From there, the residents should then leave the area in large numbers and go to third countries. Ben-Gvir had strictly spoke out against the resumption of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip according to Israel’s blockade.

Israel reacts outraged

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that it was “outrageous” that elected representatives and members of the government were exposed to such measures. In the coming week there will be a special meeting of the government in order to develop an answer to the “unacceptable” decision.

Smotrich and Ben-Gvir belong to the right-wing government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu-but not his party: Smotrich is finance minister, Ben-Gvir Minister of Police. Both are representatives of ultra -right parties in the government coalition.

Great Britain has become one of the largest critics of the Israeli government internationally. Because of Israel’s approach in the Gaza War, the British threatened several times with sharper reactions. Prime Minister Keir Strandmer has spoken out several times for a two -state solution ./Mj/dp/stw
