Grand Prix in Aachen: Olympic champion Isabell Werth disqualified

Germany has regularly appeared in the list of winners at the Nations Cup for twelve years. Not so this year. Isabell Werth and stallion Quantaz were disqualified.

After the disqualification of seven-time Olympic champion Isabell Werth (Rheinberg), the German dressage team lost the Nations Cup at the CHIO in Aachen to Denmark. Werth was dismissed by the judges in the Grand Prix Special because her stallion Quantaz had blood on his mouth.

The test with the white handkerchief confirmed the verdict, Werth was disqualified according to the regulations and will therefore not start in the Grand Prix on Sunday either.

Danish Dufour favorite at home World Cup

For the first time since 2010 and for the fourth time since the Aachen Nations Cup was first held in 1977, Germany does not appear in the list of winners. The Netherlands prevailed in 2005, 2009 and 2010.

Denmark’s top rider Catherine Dufour won the individual classification in the Grand Prix Special with ten-year-old Vamos Amigos, confirming her role as the big favorite for her home World Championships in Herning in six weeks. The best German in second place was the two-time German Vice Champion Frederic Wandres (Hagen aTW) with Duke of Britain.
