Gracia takes over coaching post at Leeds United – 13th stint in 5th country

March successor found

Leeds United have a new head coach about two weeks after the sacking of Jesse Marsch: Former Watford and Valencia coach Javi Gracia takes over the helm at the “Peacocks”. Most recently, the 52-year-old Spaniard worked for Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League and won the Qatar championship with the club. Gracia signed “a flexible contract” at Elland Road, the Premier League club said, without giving any further details at the time of the contract.

Leeds United is Gracia’s 13th coaching spell in the fifth country. The previous U21 coach Michael Skubala had previously taken over after Marsch and scored a point from three games. Leeds are penultimate in the English top flight after 23 matchdays. “The club hope Gracia’s first game in charge of the Whites will be Saturday’s Premier League clash against Southampton at Elland Road, subject to obtaining the necessary work permits,” the club said.
