Governor reports massive Russian attacks on Kherson | War Ukraine and Russia

The Russian army has fired on targets in the Kherson region more than 50 times since yesterday. This is reported by the military administration of the region. The governor today accused Russia of “terror” and “targeted attacks against civilians”. One person was killed and two injured, he reported via Telegram.

Several places along the northwestern bank of the Dnepr River are under fire from Russian troops on the other side. The situation in the city of Kherson, which Ukraine recaptured two weeks ago, is critical, according to the governor.

Necessary infrastructure under which electricity and water supplies in the city have been destroyed, households can only gradually be reconnected to the electricity grid. Five percent of residents would now have light at home again and a hospital also has power again.

Evacuations

Due to the difficult situation, the Ukrainian government started evacuations a few days ago. About a hundred inhabitants were taken by train to the west of the country. Others have traveled independently to quieter parts of Ukraine.

On Friday, fifteen more people were killed in Kherson by shelling by the Russian army, which previously held the city for eight months.

War crimes

Since the end of the occupation more than two weeks ago, at least 32 people have been killed in the region, according to the police. Investigators have studied 578 cases that could be classified as war crimes.
