Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj will visit Germany this weekend for the first time since the Russian attack on Ukraine.
Government circles in Berlin confirmed to the German Press Agency on Saturday that the visit will take place on Sunday.
It was initially unclear whether Selenskyj would arrive on Saturday evening or only on Sunday.
The Ukrainian President is in Rome on Saturday. Italy promised Selenskyj full support. It is about military, financial and humanitarian aid as well as short and long-term reconstruction aid, according to those close to President Sergio Mattarella’s office. Selenskyj meets Mattarella and then Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
He then makes his way to the Vatican for a meeting with Pope Francis. At the end of April, he said the Vatican was involved in a peacekeeping mission to end the Ukraine war.
