Bundesliga club FC Augsburg gives defensive specialist Felix Götze back to the 3rd division. Like the Table-14. announced on Monday that the brother of world champion Mario Götze is moving to third division promoted Rot-Weiss Essen for a season. Should RWE manage to stay up in the league, an agreed purchase obligation applies.
“We wish Felix Götze all the best at Rot-Weiss Essen, especially that he remains injury-free and can continue the development he made last season,” said FCA Managing Director Stefan Reuter: “The match practice will help him help.”
The 24-year-old was loaned out to 1. FC Kaiserslautern last season and celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with the Red Devils.
Götze switched to FCA in 2018, but has only played six times in the Bundesliga and three times in the DFB Cup – also due to injuries. In the current season, the native of Dortmund has not played a competitive game for the Fuggerstadt team.
