Felix Götze will move permanently from Bundesliga club FC Augsburg to Rot-Weiss Essen in the summer. Thanks to Essen’s third division relegation, an automatic purchase obligation applies, both clubs confirmed on Wednesday.
Mario Götze’s younger brother had been on loan to Essen since last summer, and the 25-year-old has made 19 appearances and scored two goals in the third division for the traditional club from the Ruhr area.
“The fact that we are now in the league gives us planning security and we can push our squad planning even more,” said Marcus Steegmann, director of professional football at Rot-Weiss: “We are therefore happy to be able to continue planning with Felix and continue to work with him.”
