The Gorillaz released the song “Silent Running” on Friday. This will be heard on CRACKER ISLAND. The album is announced for February 24th. Adeleye Omotayo, who has been with the Gorillaz live band since 2017, provided the vocals and lyrics.

Once again they will also be supported by prominent feature guests. While in the past it was greats from various genres such as Elton John, Bobby Womack, Lou Reed and Snoop Dogg, two of the four single releases to date include Tame Impala and bassist Thundercat.

A music video in the typically animated Gorillaz style was also made possible by a short teasers announced. It was directed by Emmy-nominated Fx Goby and Jamie Hewlett, who co-founded the Gorillaz project with Blur singer Damon Albarn. They rose to fame over 20 years ago with the song “Clint Eastwood” and have since confirmed their status with songs like “Feel Good Inc.” in 2005 and “On Melancholy Hill” in 2010.

Most recently, the EP MEANWHILE was released in August 2021. After the first self-titled album, DEMON DAYS, PLASTIC BEACH, THE FALL, HUMANZ, THE NOW NOW and SONG MACHINE: SEASON ONE – STRANGER TIMEZ, CRACKER ISLAND is the eighth album by the virtual band from Great Britain.
