The Dutch entertainer Gordon recently stirred up controversy on the radio with his emotional commentary about the lack of appreciation from the Dutch public. His lament sparked mixed reactions, with some commentators questioning the gravity of his claims: “What are we talking about? This isn’t Beatrix!”

It appears that Gordon is seeking validation after the disappointing reception of his Blushing project in Blaricum and his unsuccessful radio show. Currently, he is focused on trying to look fit for the cover of Men’s Health, hoping this will endear him to the Dutch people once more.

Yearning for Pride

In a heartfelt moment during his show on Radio 10, he expressed, “I really wish that the Netherlands could be proud of me again. That’s something I haven’t felt in a long time.”

Co-host Froukje de Both responded, “Maybe it starts with you being truly proud of yourself.” Gordon agreed, stating, “Yes, and I am.”

The Backlash

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden brought attention to Gordon’s emotional outburst in the podcast Strikt Privé. Co-host Jan Uriot echoed skepticism, questioning, “Is it really about being proud? It’s not like we’re hearing from Beatrix here. This is ridiculous! And all this crying around it! How often have we heard Gordon say he’s finally being himself?”

Reality Check

Jan mentioned he recently encountered Gordon, finding it surprising how much he had transformed. “Three weeks before Blushing ended, I saw him standing there pouring coffee. I thought, is that Henk Krol?”

His comments suggest he hopes that Gordon’s effort for the Men’s Health cover will lead to visible changes, promoting a sleeker appearance. “It would be nice if his face could trim down a bit as well,” Jan noted.

Advice from the Experts

Jordi advised that Gordon might benefit from stepping out of the public eye for a while. “Maybe he needs to disappear for a year,” he suggested.

Jan chimed in, “We’ve said that many times already.” Jordi emphasized the need for a break, explaining that his recent radio show debuted too soon after a failed project, noting, “It simply couldn’t go well.”

To conclude, Jan reflected, “You don’t have to share everything with the public.” This sentiment may resonate with many, as figures like Gordon contemplate their public personas.
