Gordon was dealt a severe blow in Renze Klamer’s talk show for fat-shaming a colleague in Ranking the Stars. “I’m not happy about this. I don’t find it humorous at all.”

The joke that Gordon made last weekend in the Ranking the Stars program about the weight of actress Sarah Janneh caused quite a stir. Everyone has expressed their disapproval of it and that fat shaming was even the opening news of Boulevard. The riot was also briefly discussed yesterday in the show by Renze Klamer.

‘This is not humor’

Catherine Keyl immediately makes it clear that she finds Gordon’s joke objectionable. “I’m not happy about this. I don’t find it humorous at all.”

MAX boss Jan Slagter then: “It is a very easy comment. I have to say that they did ask Sarah: ‘If you want it to come out, we will take it out.’ So that question was put to her, but she said: ‘Leave it alone, because I think it’s fine, then they can also see what Gordon is like.’”

Angela sober

Angela de Jong takes a more down-to-earth stance in this discussion. “I guess that’s also what Ranking the Stars is, right?”

Jan: “It is what Ranking the Stars is.”

Angela: “I’m not so shocked by this, if I’m completely honest.”

Renze: “No, it is perhaps especially in these times, when everyone is very careful, that you have a place where everyone agrees that anything can be said… That can also be refreshing every now and then.”

Champagne

Jan thinks it is nice that the offended candidate has been asked for her opinion. “It used to not be asked, but now it is asked.”

Angela: “Then first a bottle of champagne was thrown into the participants.”

Jan: “You now also saw that there was no pre-drinking, but previously three champagnes were thrown in.”

Wouter de Winther: “When it was still part of the public broadcaster!”

Jan: “Yes, we still had money then, yes.”

Low hanging fruit

DJ Domien Verschuuren also thinks Gordon’s joke is low. “Yes, this comment is of course low-hanging fruit, but Paul’s comeback is very strong. I think that’s really funny.”

Renze: “You could say about a joke like that from Gordon… You can tell from the reactions that he doesn’t fall either. He is the only one who laughs loudly, but not the rest, so that is actually a good benchmark of: what is still accepted and what is not nowadays? You will notice that automatically.”

Do it a little better

According to Angela, it also clearly shows Gordon’s hypocrisy. “Gordon is also the man who made everyone want to act a little nicer, right? So…”

Renze: “Yes, there is nothing left of that.”

Domien: “The most offensive thing I saw was the comment to Rob Goossens, which Paul de Leeuw puts down as: I don’t understand that you are heterosexual, and that becomes a kind of common thread that then TikTok came along…”

A hundred times

Catherine also thinks that’s lame about Paul de Leeuw. “That has been discussed a hundred times and he has denied it a hundred times. I think you should stop doing that.”

Angela: “Yes, but this is also that program, right? That’s what they choose.”

Domien: “Yes, but to say to someone three times: ‘Haha, you’re gay!’ Make something better…”
