Göppingen wins crime thriller on the European stage

German handball thriller on the European stage: Frisch Auf Göppingen narrowly qualified for the group phase of the European League in a Bundesliga duel with TBV Lemgo Lippe. In the qualifying second leg, the Swabians handed a 31:33 (15:18) on Tuesday evening after the first leg success last week (28:24) to progress.

The best Göppingen shooters were Josip Sarac and national player Marcel Schiller with six goals each – at Lemgo-Lippe Schiller’s DHB teammate Lukas Zerbe, who was also successful six times, was convincing.

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt easily walked into the group phase at the same time. After the 14-goal win in the first leg in Poland, the team of coach Maik Machulla again clearly won against MMTS Kwidzyn with 37:24 (17:11). The best thrower for the North Germans was August Pedersen with nine goals.
