At the same time as numerous players have ceased operations in Russia, the country itself has censored the services and blocked their use. The latest addition to the blocking list is the Google News service.
The news Reuters According to the Russian regulator and the censorship engine, Roskomnadzor has blocked Google’s news service, accusing it of allowing the allegedly false content in connection with the “Ukrainian military operation.”
According to Roskomnadzor, “the American online news service provided access to numerous publications and materials that contained false information”.
Google confirmed to Reuters that people are unable to access the Google News app or website in Russia and that this is not a technical issue.
