Katie Boulter, in the 118th place of women’s world rankings, defeated 2021 finalist Karolina Pliskova 2-1 in sets 3-6, 7-6 and 6-4. Boulter reached the 3rd round of a grand slam tournament for the first time in his career.


Jessica Pegula (8), Harriet Dart 2-1 (4-6, 6-3, 6-1), Barbora Krejcikova (13), Viktorija Golubic 2-0 (6-3, 6-4), Elena Rybakina (17) beat Bianca Andreescu with 2-0 (6-4, 7-6) and got her 3rd round ticket.


Another surprise result came from Liam Broady, who was 132nd in the men’s classification. Broady beat Diego Schwartzman (12) 3-2 in sets 6-2, 4-6, 0-6, 7-6 and 6-1, advancing to the 3rd round of a grand slam tournament for the first time in his career.


Stefanos Tsitsipas (4) eliminated Jordan Thompson 3-0 and Botic van de Zandschulp (21) eliminated Emil Ruusuvuori 3-1 and continued on his way.
