San Siro will finally be demolished in 2026, according to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’

‘La Catedral’, the new stadium in Milan, will begin construction in early 2024

According to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, both clubs have already decided to demolish the legendary San Siro in 2026, coinciding with the stadium’s 100th anniversary. To replace it, Milan and Inter are already working on the construction of ‘The Cathedral’, a new stadium that can provide more comfort to its fans. Construction will begin in early 2024.

Your new home will house fewer fans, as the idea is reduce the 80,000 seats of San Siro to 65,000. In this way, they hope to be able to fill the stadium every weekend, since with the current capacity they rarely fill it to the flag.

‘La Catedral’, which will cost some 1,000 million euros, will continue to be used by both clubs, although now it will be ownedsince the current one is from the city council.

The area around the stadium will have a 50,000-square-meter park, an urbanization, a 17-meter double tower, a shopping center, a congress center and a sports museum. In fact, this is one of the reasons why San Siro will be demolished.
