Good news for FC Bayern

FC Bayern can hope for a comeback from Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies in the last game of the year on Friday against RB Leipzig (8:30 p.m.).

As the Munich team announced, Kane completed part of the team training again on Monday. Alphonso Davies was also there again.

Striker Kane suffered a small muscle fiber tear in his right back thigh in the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund (1-1) at the end of November.

The goal guarantor therefore missed the cup duel with Bayer Leverkusen (0:1), the league games against 1. FC Heidenheim (4:2) and at FSV Mainz 05 (1:2) as well as the Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk (5:1).

Left-back Davies suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left back thigh in the game against Heidenheim at the beginning of December.

Coach Vincent Kompany will soon be able to plan again with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry. The wing duo took part in a running session again after recovering from injuries. Coman tore a muscle fiber in his left thigh against Heidenheim, while Gnabry missed four games due to knee problems.

Eberl takes FC Bayern players to task

Sports director Max Eberl did not want to accept the many failures (Vincent Kompany was missing eight players in Mainz) as a reason for the bankruptcy in Mainz.

We don’t want to look for alibis. We have top players who weren’t there. You can read all of that. And of course it would have been good to have one or the other on the pitch today. But we didn’t,” he said after the game.

The 51-year-old summed up that FC Bayern would have let the Rheinhessen force their game on them. “All of us as a group didn’t manage to do that today: to bring this calm to the pitch. That’s what our quality is.”
