Good news for amateur football: competitions (very) soon

All football competitions will resume within two weeks. For many amateur football players there is even another match on the program this weekend. The other competitions continue next week, reports the KNVB after yesterday’s corona press conference. The football association intends to apply promotion and relegation in all competitions.

“There are still many uncertainties with regard to corona and possible measures associated with it,” the statement from the football association said. “In order to have enough space to play the competitions well and to deal with the possible uncertainties, we are forced to adjust the competitions in the different categories.”

This weekend or next week?

The KNVB has decided to continue the B-category (recreational) from this weekend according to the regular program. The A-category (selection teams) will play (catch-up) matches again from next week. The KNVB will decide on Friday what the continuation of the competition will look like. This applies, for example, to AFC and Koninklijke HFC in the second division and OFC and ODIN’59 in the third division.

“We find a third season without a final ranking unacceptable”

Statement KNVB

post-competition

Due to the fact that we are very concerned about whether these competitions with full post-competition can still be completed, the scenarios are currently being examined more closely. Our starting point is that we must have a high degree of certainty in order to implement promotion and relegation this season. We find a third season without a final ranking unacceptable.”

In the Eredivisie futsal it has already been decided not to let the post-competition take place. The regular final standings will determine which clubs are promoted and relegated. This adjusted promotion/relegation arrangement will be communicated before the resumption of the competition next week.

Spectators

Also at amateur football is again public allowed. Supporters must keep a distance of one and a half meters and a mouth cap is mandatory when moving in the canteen or the sports hall. The sports facilities close at 10 p.m.
