Germany lost the European Championship final 1-2 in extra time. Despite an exciting game, not all players are in their best form. The individual criticism.

The dream of the ninth European Championship title for the German women’s national team has burst. In the final against the English, the DFB team lost 1.2 (1:0, 1:1) after 120 minutes. The “Three Lionesses” celebrated the greatest success in their history – but the game remained open until the end.

The short-term absence of star striker Alexandra Popp made things more difficult for the team headed by national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (read more about this here).

Popp “would have triggered something in the opponent with her presence. But it just didn’t work,” explained Voss-Tecklenburg after the game. And further: We were close. But England withstood the pressure at home. Congratulations to the English women.”

Nevertheless, the German team at least kept up with the hosts and had chances to win themselves. You can read about who was able to excel in the dramatic defeat and who had a bad day in the final of all things in the individual review above or here.
