Top soccer player Gonzalo Higuaín has decided to end his long career as a player this season. Higuaín announced his decision on Monday at the press conference of the MLS club Inter Miami.

Higuaín, 34, broke down in tears when announcing his decision.

– It’s time to say goodbye. The most important goal for me has always been to never give up.

Higuaín played a total of 17 years as a professional in his career. In addition to Inter Miami, the Argentinian striker also represented Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, AC Milan and Chelsea in his playing career.

His first club team as a professional was the Argentinian River Plate.

Higuaín, who thrives as an attacker, has scored 14 goals for Inter Miami this season, 10 of which have come in the previous 11 league matches.

In his career, Higuaín has also been a familiar sight in the Argentina national team. The forward has scored 31 goals in 75 national team games.

In his career, Higuaín has won the La Liga championship three times in the shirt of Real Madrid and the Serie A championship three times in Juventus.
