Goller move from Werder Bremen to 1. FC Nürnberg fixed – 2nd winter signing at FCN

“Taking the next development step”

Benjamin Goller leaves Werder Bremen in winter and joins 1. FC Nürnberg. Both clubs announced this on Sunday without going into more detail about the contractual terms. The 23-year-old will take part in training at the “Club” with a guest player’s license from Monday. Goller, who came to the Weser on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04 in 2019, has been loaned out three times in the past, twice to Karlsruher SC and once to Darmstadt 98. Now he is leaving Bremen permanently.

“Benjamin has repeatedly demonstrated his skills in his previous positions. Now he should take his next step in development with us,” explained Nuremberg’s sports director Dieter Hecking. Sports director Olaf Rebbe added: “Benjamin Goller can be used on the wing and suits us well with his speed and intensive style of play. In addition to his experience in the Bundesliga, he has already played in the 2nd Bundesliga in Darmstadt and Karlsruhe and therefore knows what is important for us. We are delighted that he is starting a new chapter in his career with us.”

Goller has not played a single minute for Werder this season. Therefore, the winger, whose contract would have expired at the end of the season anyway, wanted to say goodbye to the green-whites in winter. “I made a conscious decision to move to Nuremberg. The talks with Dieter Hecking, Olaf Rebbe and Markus Weinzierl convinced me of the FCN’s path. In addition, I can identify very well with the goals of 1. FC Nuremberg,” said the right-footer, who is already the second new signing in Nuremberg in the last few days after Schalke’s Florian Flick (22) (on Nuremberg’s winter transfers 2022/23).
