Disastrous Christmas dinner: Golf star Scottie Scheffler is out for the time being because he injured his hand while preparing the feast.

After a “Christmas accident,” world number one Scottie Scheffler missed the start of the year on the PGA golf tour. According to his management, Scheffler injured himself on a broken glass while preparing dinner on Christmas Day. Small splinters were removed from his palm and he canceled his participation in the tournament in Hawaii (from January 2nd).

However, the Olympic champion does not want to take a long break. Scheffler plans to start the season in La Quinta, California on January 16th. “He was told he should be back to 100 percent in three to four weeks,” manager Blake Smith said.

Scheffler has had an extremely successful year. He became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win seven PGA tournaments in 2024, including the US Masters for the second time after 2022, as well as the season finale and the Players Championships. In addition to winning gold at the Summer Games in Paris with a course record in the final round, he also triumphed at the Hero World Challenge invitation tournament.

Scheffler made negative headlines at the PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident near the Valhalla Golf Club. All charges were later dropped.
