Swedish film director Ruben Östlund has won the Palme d’Or at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. He received the prestigious film award for the movie Triangle of Sadness. It is the second time that the Swede will take the credit in Cannes.
Triangle of Sadness is about a cruise ship that sinks. The rich passengers then have to build a new life on an uninhabited island. The film was very well received at Cannes and received an eight-minute standing ovation. Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean and Woody Harrelson can be seen in the film.
Östlund won his first Golden Palm in 2017 for the film The Square. The Swede is also known for the film Force Majeure. It won the jury prize in Cannes in 2014.
