Filippo Tortu returns to the 200 meters at the Golden Gala in Rome and closes in 3rd place in 20”40, best performance of the season, behind the Olympic silver medalist Kenneth Bednarek (20 “01) and the South African Luxolo Adams (20” 33) . In 4th place Fausto Desalu, who does not go beyond 20 “59, while Lorenzo Patta – the third gold relay runner of the Italian 4×100 in Tokyo – closes 8th in 20” 91.

Excellent performance for Elena Bellò, third in 1’58 “97 in the 800 meters easily won by the American Athing Mu with the seasonal world record of 1’57” 01. Second is the French Renelle Lamote with 1’58 “48. For Bellò, 25 years old from Vicenza, bearer of the Fiamme Azzurre, this is the third alltime Italian performance after Gabriella Dorio’s 1’57” 66 (1980) and 1 ‘ 58 “63 by Elisa Cusma (2007).

3000 star hedges
