Gold medal for Vessemse Eveline Saalberg on 4 x 400 meters

Eveline Saalberg from Vessem won a gold medal in the 4 x 400 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Munich on Saturday evening. Lieke Klaver, Lisanne de Witte and Femke Bol were also part of the golden relay team. The Orange Quartet won the final in the best European time of this year: 3.20.87.

Eveline Saalberg was the starting runner of the golden relay team, she was spared during the semifinals on Friday. She was nervous (‘as always’), but the start runner used that nervousness to lay a good foundation.

For Femke Bol it was already her third gold medal during the European Athletics Championships in Munich. With this she equaled the legendary Fanny Blankers-Koen.
