Dear traveler, please note: are you going into (or out of) the city on King’s Night or Day by public transport? Good news: several transport companies are deploying extra equipment today and tomorrow – even if you are celebrating the party outside the province.
Anyone who goes by train first has some important things to take into account. Different rules apply than on a normal travel day. For example, you are not allowed to take a bicycle on the train on King’s Day.
In addition, an alcohol ban applies from Sunday at seven in the evening to seven o’clock on Tuesday morning. You are not allowed to take alcohol on the train or to the station. Alcohol is therefore not sold at the station.
In many stations the lockers are closed. In Breda, the safe deposit box ban applies at the same times as the alcohol ban.
Furthermore, the trains run according to a different timetable. Earlier this month, the NS announced the so-called Orange timetable, with more and longer trains on some routes. The NS recommends: to keep an eye on the website.
Buses
Bus operator Arriva says it will deploy extra buses in many places on Sunday and Monday. For example, extra night buses run to Etten-Leur, Zundert and Oosterhout. More buses will also run to and from Eindhoven, Breda and Den Bosch on Monday. The exact timetable can be found on the Arriva website.
Co-carrier Hermes (Bravo) reports that there are several diversions in Southeast Brabant and several stops are cancelled, especially in Eindhoven. Hermes also recommends updating the timetable the website to be consulted.
Outside the province
Are you looking for entertainment as Brabanders outside the province? Then the NS has good news. More trains will run around Utrecht, Amsterdam and The Hague during King’s Night – also to Brabant.
However, extra measures are being taken in a number of busy Randstad cities. For example, the Amsterdam RAI and Amsterdam Science Park stations are closed all day on King’s Day.
