Next setback for the DFB women: Replacement goalkeeper Winkler is injured – a keeper from FC Bayern is moving in.

The German national team of women has to do without replacement goalkeeper Sophia Winkler in the National League game against Austria. As the DFB announced, the 21-year-old suffered a serious knee injury.

For Winkler, who will move from SGS Essen to Eintracht Frankfurt for the coming season, Ena Mahmutović was nominated. The goalkeeper of FC Bayern Munich is also 21 years old and travels from the training camp of the U23 national team in Portugal.

National coach Christian Wück had given Winkler good chances of participating in EM. The final round will take place in Switzerland from July 2 to 27. In addition to Mahmutović on Tuesday (from 6.15 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online), Stina of Eintracht Frankfurt also stands in the squad in Nuremberg. In the 2-2 against the Netherlands on Friday, Ann-Katrin Berger stood in the goal.

Mahmutović had recently climbed the goalkeeper at Bayern Munich after a cancer disease was diagnosed with Mala Grohs. In the meantime, Grohs has returned to training.
