Goalkeeper-Patzer and Reference Pech: BVB misses direct round of 16

The BVB has a quick lead against Donetsk, but the success in the end does nothing – because of the results of the competition. A heavy mistake ensures uncertainty.
Everything was given, won – and yet Borussia Dortmund has to go to the playoffs of the Champions League. The BVB won 3: 1 (2-0) against Schatar Donetsk in the last game of the group phase, but the results of the competition only show tenth place in the final table-only the first eight teams are directly in the next Round of the premier class.
Serhou Guirassy (17th, 44th) and Ramy Bensebaini (79.) scored for the hosts, Marlon Gomes (50th) scored the interim goal for Donetsk after a heavy mistake by BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. In the playoffs, Dortmund now meets either Sporting Lisbon or the Club Bruges. The pairings will be drawn on Friday.
The fifth Champions League victory in the eighth preliminary round game was balm for the wounds of the past few weeks.
BVB interim coach Mike Tullberg had chosen a much more offensive line-up this time. His team had a considerable possession of the ball against an extremely harmless opponent from the start and was already fully deserved at half -time. A bad dropout Kobels then briefly brought the guests back into play. Not for the first time, the Swiss national goalkeeper showed problems in the game structure and processed a back pass from Pascal Groß too lightly. This was used by the approaching Marlon Gomes and blocked the ball into the net.
The Dortmunders then seemed threatening, but had other good opportunities. Bensbaini used one of them with a remarkable goal to the final score.
