On Wednesday it was announced that Manuel Neuer’s replacement was injured in training. Now a report reveals new details.

Excitement on Säbener Straße in Munich. Shortly after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, an ambulance with flashing lights and an emergency vehicle arrived in front of the FC Bayern training ground. There they were welcomed by team doctor Jochen Hahne, who led them directly to the area. Just a few minutes later, the ambulance left the area again – this time with a siren.

The reason for the operation was initially unclear, but it is now clear: it was about Bayern goalkeeper Daniel Peretz, who was transported away in an ambulance. This is what “Bild” reports.

The club had previously announced that the 24-year-old Israeli suffered a bruised kidney during training and would be out for the time being.

Manuel Neuer’s substitute keeper had complained of pain and was then examined by club doctor Jochen Hahne. The diagnosis made it necessary for emergency services to be deployed quickly, as kidney injuries can be potentially life-threatening.

The first all-clear was given in the hospital. However, Peretz will be out for the time being. Further examinations are planned for Thursday in order to better assess the healing process.

The Israeli national goalkeeper (four international matches), who moved to Munich in August 2023, represented the injured Manuel Neuer before the winter break and made five appearances.

Peretz’s loss now means a further challenge for the record champions in the already tense personnel situation in the goalkeeper position. In the friendly against Salzburg last Monday, Peretz was between the posts, Neuer was still missing from the squad.
