Goal scorer Jill Roord is happy with the “important point” that the Orange left in the first game of the European Championship with Sweden (1-1). She saw that the Dutch football players fought back well in the match after a 1-0 deficit.
According to Roord, that fighting was also reflected in the run-up to her goal, in the 52nd minute. After preparatory work by Vivianne Miedema, Roord got the ball in front of her feet and from the turn she hit the mark. “It was a bit out of whack and there was a bit of luck, but he was in it,” she told NOS.
