Both the German record champions and BVB are still unbeaten in 2025/26. Which series holds up in a direct duel? The lineups of both clubs have now been determined.

It is the eagerly awaited Bundesliga summit: FC Bayern welcomes Borussia Dortmund for the top game on Saturday evening (from 6:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online). It’s not just a prestigious duel for the two biggest German clubs, the game also presents a great opportunity: league leaders FC Bayern could move away to seven points with a win against their arch-rivals at the top, while BVB could move within one point of Munich with a win.

It is now clear which line-ups both teams will have in the fight. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany trusts this starting lineup:

Kompany makes two changes: New signing Nicolas Jackson surprisingly plays from the start for Serge Gnabry, who is out for a short time with an adductor injury and is not in the Munich squad for the game. In midfield, Aleksandar Pavlović is in the starting line-up instead of Leon Goretzka. His Dortmund counterpart Niko Kovač sends this team into the game:

Kovac makes three changes: Niklas Süle, Pascal Groß and Julian Ryerson play for Ramy Bensebaini, Yan Couto and Maximilian Beier.

t-online columnist Stefan Effenberg suspected in advance: “I think that for BVB – despite their current strong form – it will primarily be about not losing in Munich. They don’t necessarily have to win – but they can’t actually afford a defeat.”

BVB’s last win in Munich wasn’t long ago: on matchday 27 of the 2023/24 season, the black and yellow won 2-0 at Bayern.
