Gloria Gaynor reacts to Madonna’s “I Will Survive” cover

Madonna performed the hit at the opening of her tour – Gaynor is happy.

After Madonna surprised everyone on her “Celebration” tour with a cover of Gloria Gaynor’s song “I Will Survive,” the 80-year-old responded to “X” with a joke in a post.

Madonna thankfully started her tour completely healthy again after having to postpone all shows due to a serious bacterial infection. Gaynor congratulates her on the start of the “Celebration” tour, on her regained health and on her, clearly, excellent taste in music. She jokingly writes: “…@Madonna congratulations on the start of #TheCelebrationTour at @TheO2. I’m so glad you’re in good health and ready to vacation with your fans around the world! By the way, you have excellent taste in music!”.

The “Celebration” singer chose the song to accompany her thank you speech to her children: “I will survive” is, after all, an anthem for survivors. Madonna praised both daughters for their support and care during their illness. The 65-year-old said about her time in the intensive care unit: “It was a crazy year for me too and I didn’t think I would make it, and neither did my doctors. I have forgotten five days of my life, or my death, I don’t even know where I was. But the angels protected me and my children were there, and my children saved me every time”. She says her survival trick was to remember that she had to be there for her children.

While their greatest hits tour has just started, there are already rumors about further appearances. Emily Evans, a co-organizer of the Glastonbury Festival, posted a picture of Madonna at the start of the “Celebration” tour with the text “She’s back!” Incredible” on her Instagram page. Fans commented on their guesses under the post, hoping it could be a hint that Madonna could be at the festival next year.
