Glass bridge in Indonesian nature park collapses: tourist falls from 10 meters and dies | Abroad

A tourist died on the Indonesian island of Java on Wednesday after ‘The Geong’, a glass bridge that is very popular among tourists, suddenly collapsed. The tourist fell 10 meters and died. Three other visitors were injured.

The incident took place around 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday in a nature park in Banyumas, located in the center of Java. While a group of eleven tourists from the nearby town of Cilacap were walking across ‘The Geong’, the glass bridge suddenly collapsed.

Two tourists fell from a height of ten meters. One of them died on the spot, the other escaped with minor injuries. The rest of the tourists were able to flee in time or cling to the edge of the bridge. Two more people were injured.

It is not yet clear how the incident could have happened. However, negative comments about the tourist attraction have been circulating on social media for some time. For example, numerous visitors have already expressed their concerns about the safety standards of the bridge. The police have opened an investigation into the incident.
