Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach mourns Jordi Bongard. The 20-year-old defender from the U23 team of the five-time German champions died last night in a serious car accident. The club announced on Thursday.
“We received this terrible news this morning and are stunned. Our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with Jordi’s family,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. Bongard has played for Borussia since 2013 and has had a professional contract since July 2021.
After the accident, the training sessions for the professionals and the U23s scheduled for Thursday were canceled. The press conference before the game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m. in t-online live ticker) was discontinued.
