Borussia Mönchengladbach wants to “definitely” extend the contract with goalkeeper Yann Sommer, which expires at the end of June 2023.
“Yann knows that we absolutely want to keep him, I already told him that in a personal conversation. He is an incredibly important factor in our team at the moment and would also be so for the future. Especially in a situation in which a certain upheaval is pending for the club, Yann plays an immensely important role,” said sports director Roland Virkus to the “kicker”.
“It was agreed that we would meet again after the international break. I think after the Fürth game there will be an opportunity to intensify talks,” added Virkus. A free transfer of the number 1 at the end of the contract should be avoided at all costs.
