Gladbach takes risks in summer poker

The feared bloodletting has not yet started at Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer. However, numerous professional foals are still being traded by other clubs. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer is one of them. In order for him to stay on the Lower Rhine, those responsible would allegedly be prepared to take an extraordinary measure.

Goalkeeper Yann Sommer’s current contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach only runs until the summer of 2023. The foals are therefore in a quandary. If they don’t want to take the risk of a free transfer, they would have to sell the Swiss this year.

According to “Sky”, the Bundesliga club is preparing for the departure of its number one, but behind the scenes the sporting leadership is pulling out all the stops to convince the 33-year-old to stay.

“Sport Bild” reports that the Gladbachers want to keep their goalkeeper even if the contract is not extended, so they take the risk of losing secure support in the summer of 2023 without any financial equivalent.

Gladbach risks many millions

Sommer is apparently ready to get involved with this model. According to “Sport Bild”, the Swiss can well imagine going into the new season without extra time to see how the season is going and only then make a decision about his future.

In the end, this experiment could cost Gladbach dearly. “Sport Bild” reports a possible transfer fee of five million euros, which could flow into the club’s treasury if Sommer is sold this year.

Sommer himself should see the whole situation relatively relaxed. The keeper feels at home on the Lower Rhine, so he wouldn’t mind another year at Borussia. That could end up playing into the hands of those responsible.
